RAISE A NEW GENERATION
RAISE A NEW GENERATION THROUGH PARENTS
• Parents receive their
children's from God
• PARENTS DUTY TO THEIR CHILDREN
- To love them
Titus
2:4 “ In this way they will train the younger
women to love their husbands, to love their children,”
- To bring them to Christ
Matt 19:13,14 13 Then little children were brought to him for him to
lay his hands on them and pray. But the disciples scolded those who brought
them. 14 But Jesus said,
“Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the
kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15
And he placed his hands on them and
went on his way.
- To train them up for God
Eph 6:1-4. 1 Children,1 obey your
parents in the Lord2 for this is
right. 2 “Honor
your father and mother,”1 which is the
first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely, 3 “that it may go1 well
with you and that you will live2 a long
time on the earth.”3
4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but
raise them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
- To instruct them in God's word
Deut 4:9 9 Again, however, pay very careful attention, lest you
forget the things you have seen and disregard them for the rest of your life;
instead teach them to your children and grandchildren. 10 You stood
before the LORD your God at Horeb and he said to me, “Assemble the people
before me so that I can tell them my commands. Then they will learn to revere
me all the days they live in the land, and they will instruct their children.”
Duet 11:16-19 16 Make sure you do not turn away to serve
and worship other gods! 17 Then the anger of the LORD will erupt
against you and he will close up the sky so that it does not rain. The land
will not yield its produce, and you will soon be removed from the good land
that the Lord is about to give you. 18
Fix these words of mine into your mind
and being, and tie them as a reminder on your hands and let them be symbols on
your forehead. 19 Teach them to your children and speak of them as you
sit in your house, as you walk along the road, as you lie down, and as you get
up. 20 Inscribe them
on the door frames of your houses and on your gates 21
so that your days and those of your
descendants may be extended in the land which the LORD promised to give to your
ancestors, like the days of heaven itself. 22
For if you carefully observe all of
these commandments I am giving you and love the LORD your God, live according
to his standards, and remain loyal to him, 23
then he will drive out all these
nations ahead of you, and you will dispossess nations greater and stronger than
you. 24 Every place you
set your foot will be yours; your border will extend from the desert to Lebanon
and from the River (that is, the Euphrates) as far as the Mediterranean Sea. 25 Nobody will be
able to resist you; the LORD your God will spread the fear and terror of you
over the whole land on which you walk, just as he promised you.;
- To tell them of God's judgement's
Joel 1:3 Tell your children1 about it, have
your children tell their children, and their children the following generation.
- To tell them of the miraculous works of God
Exod 10:2 and in order that in the hearing of
your son and your grandson you may tell1 how I made
fools2 of the
Egyptians3 and about4 my signs that
I displayed5 among them, so
that you may know6 that I am the
LORD.”; Ps
78:4 we
will not hide from their descendants. We will tell the next generation about the
LORD’s praiseworthy acts, about his strength and the amazing things he has done.
- To command them to obey God
Deut 32:46 46 he said to them, “Keep in mind all the words I am
solemnly proclaiming to you today; you must command your children to observe
carefully all the words of this law. 47
For this is no idle word for you – it
is your life! By this word you will live a long time in the land you are about
to cross the Jordan to possess.”
1Chr 28:9 9 “And you, Solomon my son, obey the God of your father and serve him with a
submissive attitude and a willing spirit, for the LORD examines all minds and
understands every motive of one’s thoughts. If you seek him, he will let you
find him, but if you abandon him, he will reject you permanently. 10 Realize now
that the LORD has chosen you to build a temple as his sanctuary. Be strong and
do it!”
- To bless them
- To pity them
Ps 103:13 As a father has compassion on
his children,so the LORD has compassion on his faithful followers.
- To provide for them
Job 42:15 Nowhere in all the land could women be
found who were as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them
an inheritance alongside their brothers;
2Cor 12:14b For children should not have to save up for
their parents, but parents for their children.; 1Tim 5:8 But if someone does not provide for his own, especially his own family,
he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
- To rule them
1Tim 3:4 He must manage his own household well
and keep his children in control without losing his dignity. 5 But if someone
does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for the church
of God?; 1Tim
3:12 say about deacons
- To correct them
Prov 13:24 The one who spares his rod hates
his child, but the one who loves his child is diligent in disciplining him; Prov
19:18 Discipline your child, for there is
hope,
but do not set your heart on causing his death; Prov 23:13 Do not withhold discipline from a child;even if you strike him with the rod, he will not die.;
but do not set your heart on causing his death; Prov 23:13 Do not withhold discipline from a child;even if you strike him with the rod, he will not die.;
Prov 29:17 A rod and reproof impart wisdom, but a
child who is unrestrained brings shame to his mother; Heb 12:7 Endure your suffering as discipline; God is
treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?
- Not to provoke them
- Not to make unholy connections for them
WHAT IS THE OUTCOME OF NOT RAISE YOU
CHIRLD IN A PROPER WAY
• Wicked children, a cause of grief to
WHY SHOULD YOU
-
Pray for your children
- For their spiritual welfare
Gen 17:17,18,20; Then
Abraham bowed down with his face to the ground and laughed as he said to
himself, “Can a son be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Can Sarah bear
a child at the age of ninety?” 18 Abraham said to God, “O that Ishmael
might live before you!” 20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you. I will indeed bless
him, make him fruitful, and give him a multitude of descendants. He will become
the father of twelve princes; I will make him into a great nation.
1Chr 29:19 O
LORD God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, maintain the motives of
your people and keep them devoted to you. 19
Make my son Solomon willing to obey
your commands, rules, and regulations, and to complete building the palace for
which I have made preparations.”
- When in temptation
- When in sickness
Mark 5:23 one
of the synagogue rulers. He asked him urgently, “My little daughter is near
death. Come and lay your hands on her so that she may be healed and live.;
• When
having Faithful
parents with
fear of GOD.
- Are
blessed by their children
Her children rise up and call her
blessed,
her husband also praises her:
her husband also praises her:
- Leave
a blessing to their children
Ps 112:2 1 Praise the LORD!
How blessed is the one2 who obeys3 the LORD,
who takes great delight in keeping his commands.4
2 His descendants1 will be powerful on the earth;
the godly2 will be blessed.; Prov 11:21 Be assured that the evil person will certainly be punished, but the descendants of the righteous will not suffer unjust judgment.; Isa 65:23 They will not work in vain, or give birth to children that will experience disaster. For the LORD will bless their children and their descendants.

• When parents
are wicked
- Instruct
their children in evil
Jer 9:13,14 The LORD answered, “This has happened
because these people have rejected my laws which I gave them. They have not
obeyed me or followed those laws. 14 Instead they have followed the stubborn
inclinations of their own hearts. They have paid allegiance to the gods called
Baal, as their fathers taught them to do.
- Set a
bad example to their children
Ezek 20:18; Amos
2:4
4 This is what the LORD says: “Because Judah has committed three covenant transgressions –
make that four! – I will not revoke my decree of judgment. They rejected the LORD’s law; they did not obey his commands. Their false gods, to which their fathers were loyal, led them astray. 5 So I will set Judah on fire, and it will consume Jerusalem’s fortresses.”

sober, and set your hope2 completely on
the grace that will be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed.3 14 Like obedient children, do not comply
with1 the evil urges
you used to follow in your ignorance,2 15 but,
like the Holy One who called you, become holy yourselves in all of your
conduct, 16 for
it is written, “You shall be holy, because I am holy.”
